Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 9, 2026

Caption Chat is a web-based AAC support tool created by Sheila Lin. This privacy policy explains what information may be used when you use Caption Chat, especially if you choose to use Google Sign-In and cloud sync.

Information Caption Chat may use

Caption Chat can be used without signing in. When used without signing in, your saved changes are stored locally in your browser.

If you choose to sign in with Google, Caption Chat may use basic Google account information for authentication, such as your name and email address. Caption Chat does not receive or store your Google password.

Optional sync data

If cloud sync is enabled, Caption Chat may store user-created AAC customization data in Supabase. This may include editable board data such as button labels, page settings, vocabulary layouts, symbol choices, and related configuration data.

Caption Chat is designed to store editable app data. It does not intentionally store generated images, uploaded files, Google Drive files, Gmail content, Calendar data, Contacts, or other Google service content.

Google data access

Caption Chat uses Google Sign-In only for account authentication and optional sync. Caption Chat does not request access to Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, or files.

How information is used

Data sharing

Caption Chat does not sell user data. User-created data is not shared with advertisers. Data is used only to provide and maintain the app features described above.

Local storage

Caption Chat can save settings in your browser using local storage. Clearing your browser storage may remove locally saved data. If cloud sync is not enabled, the developer cannot recover locally deleted data.

Data deletion

You may request deletion of synced Caption Chat data by contacting info@slplin.com.
